Thomas Jefferson ?

Thomas Jefferson was a very remarkable man who started learning very early in life and never stopped.

At 5, began studying under his cousin’s tutor.

At 9, studied Latin, Greek and French.

At 14, studied classical literature and additional languages.

At 16, entered the College of William and Mary.

At 19, studied Law for 5 years starting under George Wythe.

At 23, started his own law practice.

At 25, was elected to the Virginia House of Burgesses.

At 31, wrote the widely circulated “Summary View of the Rights of British America ? And retired from his law practice.

At 32, was a Delegate to the Second Continental Congress.

At 33, wrote the Declaration of Independence .

At 33, took three years to revise Virginia ‘s legal code and wrote a Public Education bill and a statute for Religious Freedom.

At 36, was elected the second Governor of Virginia succeeding Patrick Henry.

At 40, served in Congress for two years.

At 41, was the American minister to France and negotiated commercial treaties with European nations along with Ben Franklin and John Adams.

At 46, served as the first Secretary of State under George Washington.

At 53, served as Vice President and was elected president of the American Philosophical Society.

At 55, drafted the Kentucky Resolutions and became the active head of Republican Party.

At 57, was elected the third president of the United States .

At 60, obtained the Louisiana Purchase doubling the nation’s size.

At 61, was elected to a second term as President.

At 65, retired to Monticello .

At 80, helped President Monroe shape the Monroe Doctrine.

At 81, almost single-handedly created the University of Virginia and served as its first president.

At 83, died on the 50th anniversary of the Signing of the Declaration of Independence along with John Adams.

Thomas Jefferson knew because he himself studied the previous failed attempts at government. He understood actual history, the nature of God, his laws and the nature of man. That happens to be way more than what most understand today. Jefferson really knew his stuff. A voice from the past to lead us in the future:

Are we learning what God is teaching

I’m really not an Old Testament buff.  To me the Old Testament is there to validate the New Testament for the ‘born again’ Christian.  However, I have been reading the prophets again.  I wanted to see why this loving God we serve go so upset with His chosen people.  Of course the first thing was Idolatry.  After that it seems it is just the way they lived.  They lived for me and my pleasures.  Other people were suffering, but that was just the way it is.  If I can win I will even if it is to the distress of the poor.  Justice is whatever works out to get others out of my mind or at least out of my site.

 

Sound familiar; well it should.  IT IS US.

 

We Christians complain about the criminals and the working and non-working poor, and say, “These people are trying to take advantage of us, so let us not worry about their wellbeing.”  Let us examine why they might be the way they are. 

 

What do they think about every day?  They think about survival, and the ones that are Christians wonder why they are having such a hard time in this free land the Lord gave us.  Most think they should follow the thinking of the church and the government.

 

First let us examine the Christian church.  Most of the churches in these United States have given the responsibility of seeing to the needs of the poor to the government.  The government accepted the responsibility.  Our government hasn’t protected the poor for a long time.  For instance as I point out in my book “God’s Agenda vs Man’s Agenda” “In 1909 the arrested workers of the New York Shirtwaist Strike of 1909 were told by a judge that they were on a strike against God.”  In this section of the book I point out several instances that shows they supposed leaders of the country didn’t care at all about the poor or oppressed.

 

The prophets talked about the fact that people were not paid a fair wage.  I would assume that means a wage they could at least survive economically.  I dare anyone that has lived on a wage of $15 an hour or less to attempt to try it on $7.25 an hour.  That is about $14,500 dollars per year.  If you look on this web site http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0774473.html you will notice that this amount has never been a fair amount.  In 1955 the amount was $.75 per hour.  That would have been about $1,500 per year.  This is $30 a week or about $129.00 a month.  At that same time I earned more than that with part time work and was only a junior in high school.  At that same time men were earning $30 per week building homes outside the union.  At that same time workers in the unions and government employees were earning $80 per week. That ratio continues today.

 

Our all knowing government that represents all the people passes laws that allow those who have to exploit the have-nots.  They pass laws that oppress those that have resorted to criminal activity which further teaches them to survive no matter what happens to others.  At all points in our justice system, especially the Federal government, are always out to win regardless of the facts of the circumstances.  Judges mostly do what the District Attorneys request, and the accursed, in most cases, has to take pleas due to the cost of litigation.

According to the history of the relationship of God and man, we must take the responsibility of begin called Christian seriously and have the church take back the responsibility of distributing the gives to the common storehouse to the ones that need it.  Individually take back the responsibility of being children of God.

The Devil believes in God

Did you know that the Devil believes in God?  That is an interesting thought isn’t it? Believing in God is not the same as Worshiping and Trusting in God.  The Devil as near as I can tell, was there when the universe was created.  Yet he wants us to believe that he, the devil, is all powerful.  He probably is more powerful than man, but he is not more powerful than man with God.  The Devil certainly gets man’s attention, but he is not more powerful than our Sovereign Lord.

The Devil with his use of money and power here on earth entices us to follow the idles he places in front of us like money, power, prestige, and worldly pleasures to get us to follow him which is a way of forcing us to follow him.

The Lord God on the other hand simply says to us that He is God the Creator of heaven and earth, and asks us to accept Him at His word, live a productive life here on earth as he directs and live eternity with him.

If it be His will, I pray today that our nation accept Him, His teachings, and His grace which will lead us back to a relationship with Him that will allow Him to let us continue living free in this country.  Then we can spend eternity in heaven with Him. Amen

Are we following the prayer of Jerimiah

In the 10th Chapter of Jeremiah, Jeremiah offers this prayer after God had told him that the people of Israel were not living their lives as he had instructed before they entered the promise land

Lord, I know that people’s lives are not their own; it is not for them to direct their steps. Discipline me, Lord, but only in due measure not in your anger, or you will reduce me to nothing.
25 Pour out your wrath on the nations
that do not acknowledge you,
on the peoples who do not call on your name, For they have devoured Jacob; they have devoured him completely and destroyed his homeland

At some point we must consider that we have been given a chance for a wholesome life with riches enough to have time to consider what God has given us to work with in order to bring the world to the Lord as he commanded.  We can start by considering what our God given talents are and how we might use for the good of mankind.  Then we could ask God how he wants us to use those talents for his glory

In order to grow this country’s respect and influence throughout the world we should begin to first move our own lives closer to what God intended us to do.  A big step would be to go back to the six days of labor and one or rest.  Our government supported this even in the Constitution.  We had the “blue law”.  Government business and commercial business was shut down except of necessary things like hospitals, emergency service, police, and emergency repair entities.   I remember in my lifetime that we couldn’t sign a contract on Sunday.  It just would not hold up in a court of law

Today in the United States we have companies working that never shut down.  We do have the hospitals and other institutions that have to work for the safety of others.  We have our military, police and fire fighters, and many other situations where we would at least have to be virulent.  We have some that worship on Sunday and some that worship on Saturday and some that worship on Friday. Can we pick a day of rest and get back to our original beliefs

The Lord God said to the prophets that we do not consider the poor or anyone that assistance from the wealthy.  In those times the religious community which would have been the Israelites or Jewish church that took that responsibility.  In the beginning they did that service for the Lord, but had let that responsibility fall away from their practices.  In the United States it was the Christian Church’s responsibility or the community that should be doing this, but the communities gave that responsibility to the State and Federal Government.  Now the State and Federal Government doesn’t want it any more,

Can the tithes and offerings be better distributed from the State and Local Government and should it be.  Holding a coin in his hand, Jesus said give unto Cesar what belongs to Cesar and give to God what is God’s.  I don’t believe he was talking only about Money, but I could be wrong.

Is there a way to fix this?

I’ll TAke My Bat and Go Home

I am so tired of watching people run this country that are not at all interested in communicating or negotiating.  People make statements that should not be even though let alone made.  I am a President Obama supporter, but when he said we are not a Christian Nation.  My thought was how can you swear to support and defend the Constitution when you don’t even talk like you have read it?  We are a Christian Nation tolerating other methods of worshiping God.  Mr. President, if you don’t believe that then you should resign.

As I have said before I am an Independent.  It is not because I don’t believe in paying your way or supporting the poor.  It is because I have read the Democratic philosophy and the Republican philosophy and have noticed that either party follows their own philosophy.  The Constitution is trampled by both parties and their philosophies (not the Constitution) is upheld by the Supreme Court.

I dealt with people just like the Republican and the Democrats when I was a kid.  These are the kids when we play football or baseball would say, “If you’re not going to play the way I want to play, I’m going to take my ball or bat and go home.”  The other kids would usually win by simply saying to the troublemaker, “we all have to play by the same rules

Our rule is the Constitution.  Even if you disagree with the Constitution the government electorates and employees have agreed to support it under oath.  Therefore, you don’t have an option to rule only your way.  Our Constitution says that you have to govern together.  It also says majority rule unless you want to change the rules. Then and only then does it take more.  If you can’t govern that way, give up your position. If you can’t communication your position to the representatives that disagree with you and negotiate a compromise for the benefit of all, leave your post and let us elect someone that can. 

Some said when the United States was created and the US Constitution was approved, “Now here is your nation if your can hold it.”  The had studied history up to that time and knew that monarchy, tyranny or a pure democracy would not work.  They realized that they could not dictate religion.  They did the best they could under the tutelage of God by using prayer.

I would suggest that all the representatives read the prophets of the Old Testament and see how easily God took away everything from the unbelievers and gave it back just as easily.  Read why he did this.  Mostly it was because of corruption in the church and in the government, but you read it for yourselves.

What is too big to fail?

Elizabeth Warren asked Wall Street regulators today, “Can you identify the last time you took the Wall Street banks to trial?” A lame answer at one time was, “We do not have to bring people to trial.” These regulators think that there really are companies that are too big to be regulated which translates to too big to fail. They seem to believe that these businesses can do as they please no matter what it does to the people. These people are using other people’s money. They have to be regulated. However, let us look at these companies that seem to be too big to be regulated. There are eight world banks larger than the largest bank in the United States and only a total of five United States banks that are in the top 50 world banks. Any of those banks in the top fifty can be sanctioned and controlled by world banking authorities. Our banks are nowhere near too big to fail. From the news reporting the media seemed to think that if these banks or members thereof were prosecuted that the bank would take revenge against the United States. That is not what they said, but it was clear from the reporting that they believed it. The media obviously believe in the power of the masses. The customers of these institutions and the voters of the United States [if they take responsibility by electing people to congress like Elizabeth Warren] have much more power than any institution.

OUR COUNTRY CAN NEVER BE SO BIG OR ALLOW ANY TYPE OF CORPORATION INCLUDING BANKS TO GET SO B IG THAT THEY CAN WORNGLY HURT ANY INDIVIDUAL WITH NO CONSEQUENCE.

Should we be remembering Jeramiah’s Prayer

Do our laws go against the Bill of Rights?

The first ten amendments of the Constitution of the United States are known as the Bill of Rights.  My reason for bringing this subject to light is that I wonder just how many laws and court decisions contradict these Amendments. 

The first one many have heard of because it is referred to in the press quite often.  However, mostly the press doesn’t really state the Amendments in its entirety.  Let’s just look at these for a few minutes.

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

The first section concerns the establishment of religion.  This means that Congress can’t even address religion in any way.  If Congress can’t address religion in any way then the Supreme Court cannot rule on any religious matter.  That is simple and straight forward.

The second section concerns freedom of speech. 

I think we have done pretty well on that one and the other item concerning assembly has been fairly well adhered to, although there are some problems there in the government’s reluctance to protect those active in such assemblies

Amendment II

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

If you read this completely you will discover that the first of the amendment states that a well regulated militia is mentioned.  As regular citizens living in this county we should have the right to bare arms for recreation, hunting and even protection, but it is not part of the Constitution.  The National Guard is the only state sponsored well regulated militia that would qualify as identified in the Constitution.  However, they are not allowed to take their weapons home outside the bases.

The states fund the national government, the national government pays for the Nation Guard and the governors control the National Guard unless they are needed for National defense.  At that point they come under the direction of a four start general.

This way it is hard to determine if the Guard would be state controlled if the state had a disagreement with the national government.  If the national government has first control then a separate militia should need to be formed and regulated solely by the states.

Confusing isn’t it; was it planned that way or did that just happen.  If that is the case then our Second Amendment rights have to be interpreted that we need guns.  Now what size and shape is a different matter.

Amendment III

No soldier shall, in time of peace be quartered in any house, without the consent of the owner, nor in time of war, but in a manner to be prescribed by law.

This one so far has been fairly well kept except during the Civil War.  At that time the army did just as it wanted to.  They used southern property as they deemed fit.  As a result of the Civil War the Southern States were determined not to have been separated from the Union.  This shows that the national government will do as it wishes and decide whether or not it was right or wrong later.

Amendment IV

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

The only thing I can say there is that this would be kept if the accused has enough money.  Otherwise the government especially the justice system does as it wishes both locally and nationally.

Amendment V

No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.

I have, in my lifetime seen this amendment trampled by both state and federal government.  Again money plays a big hand it this.  This goes for people not getting JUSTLY compensated to people being defrauded by the government so other not connected with the property can prosper.  Again the justice you receive is directly related to how much money you have to buy your justice.

Amendment VI

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense.

On the fringe of this amendment it seems we are doing well, but in practice the rights of each accused is to prove themselves innocent when accused.  The innocent until proven guilty is a myth.  Access to lawyers for jailed individuals is impaired almost completely in some counties to fairly reasonable in other.

Once the individual is tagged guilty the populous treats him guilty even after restitution has been made.  Needs work; criminals should be brought to justice, but within the realm of the Constitution.

Amendment VII

In suits at common law, where the value in controversy shall exceed twenty dollars, the right of trial by jury shall be preserved, and no fact tried by a jury, shall be otherwise reexamined in any court of the United States, than according to the rules of the common law.

 

Here one thing that probably should be done is to amend the $20 to a value based idea.  The other thing that should be done is to force the trial to be settled at a faster pace once the damage has been assessed.  In common law practice the attorneys drag out the trails to benefit themselves and shield the damaging party from paying.  This is a constant in our society.  People that have a grievance usually cannot hold out because they do not have enough money.  Always it takes money in this country to buy justice.

Amendment VIII

Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.

This is being used in some cases to extreme allowing criminal types to circumvent the law, again, if they have money.

Amendment IX

The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.

This was supposed to cover rights not mentioned in the above texts.  The problem here is it sometimes used to adjust the tone of the first eight amendments.  This was never the purpose.

Amendment X

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.

This one has gone one way and then the other.  Before the Civil War the states gave the government certain powers and during the Civil War and shortly after the federal government took powers it never had before and kept them.  Again the federal and state and local governments will take power then explain why they took it.  This is why the constant redistricting of the voting public should be done independently.  Otherwise one vote will never mean anything.

Clarification Concerning My Blogging about Religion and Politics

That does not mean I don’t believe non-Christian don’t believe in God.  I do believe that non-Christians that Muslims and Jews believe in the same God that I believe created the heavens and the earth.  We Christian simply believe that Jesus was God in human form paving a way to heaven for those that believe can enter Heaven with all sins forgiven.  I love all Jews and Muslims that try to do well.  I should love all no matter what they have done, but I am human with human feelings just like Muslims and Jews.

I am afraid that too many of my fellow Christians, Muslims, and Jews have become more political than religious.  The reason God refers to us as His children is, because we act like children.  We all say one thing then another to suit our short term beliefs.  We either believe what we believe or not.  For instance I have no idea what a Judeo-Christian is.  We all have beliefs based on the teachings up to Abraham.  It is the same God.

Therefore when I speak about Christians believing in the Ten Commandments that statement is applicable to all of us.  We all justify murder, lie to each other, and make statements that God would never say to us or anyone else.  His path is simple.

 

I believe the reason there is a United States of America is because God has always given us a choice of whether to follow Him or not.  However, I believe that the Catholic Church was formed wrong by placing itself between the Christian and God.  I believe that the Jewish religion declined to accept that fact of Jesus as the son of God and rejected him.  I believe that the Arabic community was so much in disarray when Mohammed saw his vision that God wanted Mohammed to unify his people into a common order of faith.  I don’t believe He told Mohammed to start another religion but to recognize one God because at that time there were many worshiped by the people of the region.

When a talk about the Christian religion in the United States, I believe that God ordained the United States to become a nation under God.  However, in the United States we follow the same idea that God puts forth through the bible.  We must have the choice option to worship Him or our worship means nothing to Him.  We must choose to worship Him.  This is the reason our founders did not mandate only one way to worship whatever god someone my conger up. 

The founders, however, did not intend to let the religions of the non-Christian to influence the way we run our country.  Our Constitution, Amendments, and laws were intended to guide the way we lived.  I will be the first to say this has not been working quite as well as they had hoped.  Only God knew what we would have to face.  They did not have a clue.  He just gave us a basis to deal with whatever came.

God said I knew you before you were born.  I think our lives are simply to vet us to believe in God and Heaven, so our souls can get to heaven.  I don’t know where our souls were before they entered our bodies, but God put them there.  He didn’t put them there so we can hate each other.

I will talk about politics and religion because I can’t separate the two.  The government has to protect religious activity because that is clearly stated in the Constitution.  That isn’t just Christians.  It is also Jews, Muslims, Hindu, and other religions that are not trying to destroy the worship of God.  If there is a Satin worshiper, I believe he has not rights at all, not because they worship the devil.  It is because it is trying to destroy our Constitution.  That is the reason I said the Supreme Court, by taking prayer out of school and all public places, have interpreted the Constitution with a decision to destroy the Constitution.  Just doesn’t make common sense.
