Term Limits

12 May

Something has to change. We have had a rough start in our Republic over the last 150 years. Our four fathers, mostly Christian, envisioned a free country dedicated to the primus that all men were created equal. While these men were basically ordinary citizens, they were the more wealthy and influential leaders of the colonies.

When the Revolutionary War was won, they discussed the possibility of making George Washington a King or at least head of the government instead of President for a short term. Thankfully he declined. However, there were men in the government that wanted the power that was coming to our nation. These men were instrumental in the development of the laws and the rules we go by because they were there for a long time.

Since that time, the length of time of service in the House of Representatives and the Senate for the House and Senate members has increased to the point that nothing matters except maintaining power for the benefit of themselves or the entities that supported their reign or power.

From that perspective it seems clear to me that the public can changes what the elected members will never do. That is to set term limits. A referendum must be set on the ballot in every state simultaneously in a federal election to set term limits to two terms for the Senate and four terms in the House, It will never happen without the public input.

The only way we can take our constitution back is to change the thinking in Washington.

Is it free speech or treason?

1 May

As usual our Congressmen and Senators are thinking more about themselves than the country. Considering even the idea of the Islamic people trying to take over our country. All of our representatives are reacting instead of proacting to the problems facing our nation.

This problem has been working for some time and being ignored by everyone in power using freedom of speech right to assemble which we originally put in the Constitution as a crutch to justify rebellion.

I am just a simple citizen, but there are solution that could be considered. Treason could be more clearly refined. The American public are easy to confuse including me. The law now protects politicians from making statements about their opponents with out any proof of what they say. To me it is okay to make any statement without producing the proof, but it should be available in case it is questioned by the media.

We have been invaded several times by organized protesters that are protesting against the values we hold dear. Many times they are masked to hold their identity from the public. This boarders on treason yet it is treated as a misdemeanor. Another is taking over and area for days or in some cases weeks or months, to inhibit the activities of the public’s normal and necessary activities. Another is the waring of masks in public with reason. Many criminals are dress with masks and hoods for no purpose other than to break into store.

We could have federal laws amended to stop these activities. You Congressmen and Senators are smarter that me, so I am sure this can be handled. You can start by asking yourselves and the activities I have mentioned are you really trying to help or are you just there because you have more money or ran a better campaign.

How Immigrants Should Show Respect

12 Mar

It seems we have lost our way. Our constitution has always been a work in progress. Since we a nation of immigrants we provided a method of recruiting new people to the country.

To become a U.S. citizen, you must meet certain eligibility requirements12345.
These include:
· Being at least 18 years old when you apply12345.
· Being a permanent resident (have a Green Card) for at least 3-5 years145.
· Demonstrating continuous residence in the United States for at least 5 years immediately before the date you file Form N-4001.
· Being able to read, write, and speak basic English (depending on age)2.
· Establishing residency in the state or U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) district where you intend to apply.
· Having “good moral character”

These requirements basically are but not limited to what is written above. At the time of becoming a citizen immigrants have to take an oath of allegiance which leaves nothing to the imagination. It is clear to me and everyone else I have talked to about this that we welcome people from other countries that want to conform to our way to life.
I see nothing wrong in protesting peacefully. To some degree protesting has benefited most of the people needed help in some way or other. Some benefited economically, some gained the right to vote, and some just recognition for things that mattered to them.
To have these rights one must be a citizen of the United States. When persons come in to the United States legally that come with a Green Card status. For a period of time that have time to acquaint themselves with our laws and customs. Otherwise the prospective immigrant will try to make this country the way he wanted to change his birth country.
We have laws that keep changing about new immigrants, but that can be fixed with cooperation between the parties. That is not the concern. The concern gets to be how the immigrants behave once they are here. When I see immigrants or children of immigrants acting like residents of another country waving their former country’s flags, I get dismayed.
When the Parisians wave the Palestinian flag ignoring what they have done it is unamerican.
You have chosen to live in a Christian nation speaking American English. Live with it.

Are Values Important to you???

18 Aug

I, among others, have been very concerned about the direction our country is taking in its basic thinking. There is a proven fact that basically says “You are what you think”. This means as one goes through life, the way one perceives life, changes the way one acts out ones life.
To try to illustrate this point we will take one value we hope we all adhere to. It is wrong to murder a human being. If that is a value one wants to stand by when one sees or hears of a murder of an innocent person, one becomes upset and appalled at the action of the perpetrator. One becomes more appalled if it is someone one admires; more appalled if it is someone one is close to; and more appalled if it is part of ones family.
How firmly one values are set one’s mind by the environment in which one lives. If the environment tolerates execution for crimes committed one’s mind changes the word murder to execution, therefore it is not longer murder. If an enemy is assassinated one again redefines murder to assassination. If an unborn baby is killed an taken from the mother’s whom for no valid medical reason, one’s mind changes the word murder to abortion. Therefore while our values may be absolute society’s values, which control our environment, may not be tied to anything that is absolute.
We believe our values are tied to the Ten Commandments God gave Moses as described in the Hold Bible, and just as the 12 tribes defiled each of the commandments, our wonderful nation of the United States of America defile these same values.
The situation described above is the reason for the writing. Since our four fathers were so interested in following through with the values set for the in the Holy Bible they placed reminders of those values in the Constitution of the United States and in different locations around its capital. They are not hidden but well placed in very obvious locations.
Further we start every session of Congress with a prayer to God, the creator of the universe, and until the twentieth century swore an oath to service the nation to almighty God saying so help me God. This is an excellent example of the digression of our values. The oath one gives is not swearing by God . One is asking God to help them follow the oath, because the bible doesn’t say to swear by anything, but just say yes or no.
From the evidence presented there is no doubt that the values presented in the Holy Bible are values this great country used to write, first the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States of America. After the Declaration of Independence of 1320 words was written thousands of Americans lost their lives by to putting the values represented in those words ahead of everything else.
After winning the Revolutionary War, which was not at all predictable, we wrote and passed the US Constitution and added the Bill of Rights to protect the values won. Then the same thing happened to us as happened to the Jews after God gave them the Ten Commandments. The “What if” movement began to slowly erode the values we fought for, and some values were just ignored.
The “What if” movement is easy to identify. On the surface it is very simple. The people agreed with the basic value by saying, “We understand that it is wrong to break this value, but what if the circumstances are; “we need this because.”
With this concept of logic we begin the micromanagement of our values. God laid the values out in very simple terms. Of course He knew that there would always be circumstances that we may have to deviate, but we should have to try to stick to the values as much as possible. Our laws a structured to keep honest people honest. They are not structured to make bad people behave.
Laws are not passed to teach people values. People inherently know right from wrong based on what God laid on their heart. For instance in our society in the United States, there is no person that does not know the Ten Commandments exist. They may not be able to recite them, but they know in their heart what they are.
While the new laws say the are reinforcing the Ten Commandments usually the new law gives some of the value to the commandment away. This is what happened to the Jews just after the Ten Commandments were given to Moses. They wrote hundreds of what if laws to the point that Jesus told them “You write laws that, even you, cannot keep.”
God gave us common sense to make decisions if we have to vary from the Ten Commandments.
We lie sometimes to keep from hurting someone’s feeling, but we don’t lie to protect society.
We steal a loaf of bread because we don’t what to starve, but we should not steal if we are too lazy to work.
This is the type of common sense we have to deal with law. Our laws are too harsh sometimes and not harsh enough other times. Usually that depends on one’s place in society and how much money one can spend to defend themselves. Sometimes, it just comes down to honor.
In a perfect world if one makes a mistake he just says, I’m sorry and makes an agreeable and amends. If someone intentionally makes a harmful action to another person, we have law to protect us. The key word here is intent.
For the average person what you intended to accomplish with one’s action has no bearing on one’s innocence or guilt , One does the crime and does the time, unless one has enough money to hire the best legal advice available.

Moving our values to the right or left is just not a good idea. When we move our values we a compromising our values given to us by God to adjust our values to those around us trying to make their life here on earth conform to earthly values that seem more convenient or easier to maintain.
This moving of values leads to crime, drugs, and unproductivity. In other words our contract with society is broken.
What is our contract with society you ask? Most of us get up in the morning awake in a home we didn’t build, a bed we didn’t make, eat breakfast with food we didn’t grow or raise, control warmth or cooling with power we didn’t make, are taught in school by someone else, work and are paid by someone else, and many other things necessary to live a good life. Every time we break our contract with society, society pays the cost.
Our laws should protect us from people breaking the contract we all have with society. The question gets to be, do our laws protect society or try to control society. If the contract with society exists we should try to bring persons that break the contract to a point of that reinforcing the values they broke.
Today we put lawbreakers in jail or prison for a period of time based on the offense they committed. The tells the offender that time served will rehabilitate their values. Often while they are incarcerated the only help they get for life after incarceration is from inmates that have less regard for good values that they have.
Therefore when the inmates are discharged from jail or prison, they fall into a life style values of their piers. If they were encouraged to learn a new skill or finish school while they were incarcerated the chances of becoming productive citizens would be greatly increased, therefore increasing the strength of the values we cherish.
How do we address this problem? We cannot do it all a once, but gradually over time by replacing the House and Senator members of state and local government that have abandoned their values for the love of power and money. it can be done.
The underlaying deeper concern about the last statement is that the citizens on the outside of the jail or prison are in the same boat. We are told by society that our contract with society doesn’t require all the values God placed in the bible. God gave us the Ten Commandments. The key word here is they are commandments and not just guide lines. With other teachings in the bible He elaborates on the Ten Commandments, but He never compromises any of them.
Society, on the other hand, compromises values usually due to the love of money and power. Having the control of money gives power to the greedy which usually negatively effects the poor, low income the most and the middle income citizens to a large extent.
The poor and low income citizens are living a hand to mouth life. Everything they earn goes to exitance. Their values are compromised because they feel life is just not fair. The middle income citizens are aware of the poor and low income, but sometimes believe they could let our of their dilemma if they just applied themselves and worked harder. They never look and the rich and ultra rich as the cause of the problem of poverty. They rather think that the rich and ultra rich are helping them maintain their wealth. Again their values have been adjusted by society.
Jesus said that the poor would always be with us. That statement seems to give us the idea the He said that and meant the poor should always be with us. God and Jesus loves everyone. They didn’t want anyone to be poor. Jesus was stating a fact; not a prediction. However, the middle class, the rich and the ultra rich make that as an excuse not to help the poor and low income to earn a proper living.
It is true that some of the poor and low income citizens are lazy. We can’t do anything about that, but most of the poor and low income citizens are not lazy and will work very hard, usually for little pay. This basically changes their values from the Ten Commandments to survive. Thereby contract with society is weakened once again.
It is evident that power and money feed pride. A Christian nation should not be prideful. A Christian nation should be humble. Each of our representatives and senator should be happy to serve the people that sent them to congress. Everyone that has been elected by the citizens or appointed by the citizens elected to serve should feel the same way.
A Christian nation should understand that God placed it in a strong position to live as an example of humility. The United States does what the angel predicted to the profit Daniel when he told Daniel a king would make treaties to deceive his enemies and do what he wanted to win.
We have treaties with Russia, Iran, China, and other countries that have not intention of complying with the agreements in the treaty. Unfortunately sometimes we sign treaties and we try to work around the agreements. Yes we let their values effect our values.
As a society we continue going down the path of least resistance rather than attempting to improve our values rather than dishonoring our values. Does our contract with society win when let;
• Pride, which is putting our place of birth, our race, our intelligence, our accomplishment,
• Power, which is given to us by those who need our leadership, and
• Wealth, which is their because due to birth, who we know, or hard work.
dictate how our values effect our contract with society?
The answer lies in you the citizen. Do you want to be known as a Christian Nation or not? Are values important to you? There is really no in-be-tween.

God and Country II A

10 Apr

On Easter Sunday I watched “60 Minutes” as they interviewed an astrologist concerning the wonderful progress we have made in studying our universe. Another astrologist was interviewed and said that the big bag theory may not be right, because??

If we are awed by the size of our universe, how awed we will be of the size of heaven when Jesus comes to collect the believers. Science cannot explain eternity and does not even attempt to explain God.

God is in heaven which probably is a dimension a heart beat away. It is probably a dimension inside the dimension of heaven. Time and our developments can’t empress our God, but faith in Him does.

May God bless the doubters until they believe, then bless them even more for believing.

God and Country II

8 Apr

I thought I had gotten my point across until the shooting in Nashville, but it just didn’t sink in with the legislators in my home state of Tennessee. I haven’t said much about gun violence because I believed that some time and some how our politicians would get the real picture.

A weapon cannot be imagined or invented that can’t be out done by the next man or woman that just wants to do damage. The problem does not begin with what we have to use, but in the mind of the human being that invents or uses the weapon.

On this Easter weekend I am reminded of what Paul said when he declared our souls a citizens of heaven when we believe that Jesus is Son of God and was sent by God to redeem our souls. That is a statement of God’s love for us. You can kill my body but my soul is just hanging around to do God’s work for a time.

Our legislators seem to believe that they can control the violence by by letting weapon companies build more and better weapons. However, even if they were successful the devil would find another way to bring more disruptive elements to bare. The problem is they are not using God’s love to handle the problem.

There are people now in jail that should be in mental institutions. There are people in jail that had sound minds when they were incarcerated, but system of incarceration in Tennessee does not try to reform the thinking of incarcerated people.

We used to have a system that addressed mental health. It was a bad system, but at leased addressed that problem. Now we know so much more about mental problems, but we try to just address them only with pills. If we could convert the money we spend doing very little good on the real problem and stop this racist attitude present in our legislators nationwide, our world would change for the better.

God grant us wisdom and courage, Amen!

God and Country 20 What Religion do you Want

28 Feb

Every one of us follow a God. That is fact not fiction. There is something in everyone’s life that means more to them that anything else.

This can range from my heavenly Father that I know created everything to one’s self state of being. This can be Christianity to the worship of one’s on self. Everyone has a religion. There are not exceptions.

What government you chose to accept reflects you willingness to step outside of your self interest or not.

The reasons I write anything about God and Country has only to do with what I believe my God wants for this country. Of course I believe my God is the creator of everything and nothing is made that He did not make.

God is a god of love, and He expects me to love Him and others as I love myself. My bible is divided into two section. The history of His creations before the cross and the gift that came as a result of the cross. I will not try to explain the difference here, but I will try if you ask.

The result is that He sent Jesus’ soul into the world in a man to teach others that there is a better way than serving one’s self. Also if you believe that Jesus was the son of almighty God and are willing to follow His teachings your soul, that He gave you, will never die, and all your sins past, present and future are forgiven.

God loves everyone whether or not they love Him back or not. This means if you were the one that shot all those children in the schools around the nation and you truly repented of those sins, accepted Jesus as your savior, and changed the way you think to His way, your soul will never die. The key is truly believing.

This is believing without doubt which is not an easy thing to do. That is the reason He gave us grace, because living as a human being without making a mistake is hard. Grace makes it a lot easier.

Other religions are not based on love and do not have the tolerance of the forgiveness of sins against their laws. Some religions are the worship of things one can get in their life time.

Our country supports all religions, but has promised no religion will be forced on others. Some in our country style this as separation of church and state. Other like me do not believe there is such mention in the Constitution of such a separation.

Our four fathers began each meeting with a prayer to my God. There are symbols all over this nation clearly stating our resolve. Sometimes our Supreme Court as made distinction concerning separation of church and state. They have no jurisdiction over what is written without public approval.

We Christians that believe God is Sovereign know that we can’t correct the laws that are wrong without God’s help. God will convict leaders to come forward that can change these laws back to our Christian beliefs. God never forced anyone to follow Him and is not going to now. However, believers, that know what He wants, will change everything back before we lose it.

The problem we have now is that too many people say they are believers but do not trust in God. Therefore they do not believe.

Amen

God and Country 19 What Type of Government do You Want

23 Feb

The first type of government is a Democratic Republic. A democratic government was tried by the Greeks centuries ago but it didn’t work. It is hard to get a majority of the voters to agree on anything. In such a case it is easy to debate to the point nothing gets accomplished. The danger in a Republic is they government can become an Oligarchy government where the wealthy control the government decisions. We are close to that now.

The second type of government we all know is Autocracy which can be defined as a state, society, or organization where one individual possesses immense power. It is not quite a Theocracy where the individual has total power, but it it close. However, one could see how a Autocracy could evolve into a Theocracy.

In either case the one person has total control of the government with the power to simply demand people to become soldiers for the army for the protection of the leaders’ realm. In a Theocracy the leader is always right and makes whatever rules that the leader deems necessary.

Another type of government we should be aware of is a government of Theocracy. This is a government where religious beliefs control the religious leader that can veto anything another government body might decide. I have nothing against representatives from the Muslim religion serving as representatives if they can take the oath of office.

Our founding fathers were very careful to set up the government so the other types of government could not sneak in and disrupt a good thing. However, they could not think of everything.

The way things are going in Washington and our state capitals I am starting to believe that a person should take the oath of office at the same time they announce running for that office.

How do we preserve out nation?

The first question we have to ask ourselves is; “What type of government do we want to leave to our children and grand children?”

The second question we have to ask is; “What can we do to ensure that the government we want stays or become what we want it to be?”

God and Country 18 Micromanaged Laws

16 Feb

Micromanaging the law is a futile process. The early Jews finally got it when Jesus came to teach God’s ideas behind the ten commandments. By the time Jesus came the laws were so convoluted the law makers couldn’t even keep the laws they themselves wrote.
On January 17, 1920 prohibition when into effect after years of the temperance movement trying to get it passed. It was not just a law it was the 19th Amendment to the Constitution ratified one year earlier. The Amendment didn’t last long. Was it necessary? It was the beginning of micromanagement of the law, and by that time there were so many alcoholics they could not stop drinking. Therefore the underworld found it easy to “bootleg” whiskey made in private stills or imported from Canada and other countries.
Alcoholism was not recognized as a problem then. However, now it is and we continue to treat it the same way we did 100 years ago. Other addictive drugs were around then and since then many other addictive drugs have been added.
In the the twentieth century in the 60s and 70s our mental institutions gradually closed down. This action put many thousands of mentally ill persons back on the streets taking drugs that would control their actions. Many of these drugs are the cause of many thousands of people being charged and jailed over drug addition.
The government or God can’t control what someone does to themselves. The government can’t do it and God won’t do it. I know what is right and wrong. We know what we do like drinking or taking drugs and driving is a wrong decision. However, technically if we enforced bad driving decisions due to drug use in the United States about half of the population would be banned from driving.
Every normal thinking citizen knows that if everyone carried a gun there would be a lot more shooting. Some of our legislators have seen too many Clint Eastwood movies and not enough Hopalong Cassidy. William Boyd knew he was an influence to young children, so there were things he was asked to do that he refused.
I was endangered by a shotgun blast in an organized hunt when I was young. I would be more afraid of a person who didn’t have the training carrying a gun than I was that day.
Some drugs are legal and some drugs are not. We should not take drugs unless we need them. All drugs should be legal.
It is good to arrest a person that is under the influence of any substance or arrest a person in public when they could disrupt natural flow of common decency. Jail if necessary but treat in problem while they are in jail.
I hate the idea of abortion, but it a pregnant mother is planning to abort a child, give her an opportunity to pass the child to a couple that needs a child in their lives. Then train the mother how to control pregnancy.
In Tennessee we spend 72 dollars a day to house an inmate with an 80% expectation of that inmate would be returning to jail. In Tennessee federal prisons we spend 96 dollars a day with the same expectation. Aggressive treatment is not given in either plan.
As a society we would rather try to micromanage people outside of the law and put them out of harms way to address the problem short term and just hope that it goes away by itself.

Albert Einstein said Crazy is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different outcome.

Most of us know who Albert Einstein is an recognize his intelligence. We elect leaders that are doing the same thing over and over expecting good things to happen when it didn’t work before.
Micromanagement does not work.

God and Country 17 Discussion about January 6, 2021

12 Feb

The question to me is; When did a peaceful protest become an insurrection? I heard the Secretary of the Military who was the secretary on January 6th 2021 interviewed when he gave his thoughts about that day. I don’t think he was telling an untruth, however I believe his thinking was off.

According to the secretary he had the National Guard ready to protect the demonstrators at the direction of President Trump. He said the DC police and the National Park Officers said they could handle one hundred thousand demonstrators. This was probably correct. Handling demonstrators has been done before.

However, I don’t believe the DC police or the National Park Officers ever said or even indicated they could handle an insurrection of somewhere between 30,000 and 100,000. The true numbers are difficult to pin down.

Lets look at the definition of the two words demonstrator and insurrectionist.

Demonstrator – a person who takes part in a public demonstration, as by marching or picketing.

Insurrection – an act or instance of rising in revolt, rebellion, or resistance against civil authority or an established government.

The National Park Officers and the DC Police were in fact ready for a demonstration of many people. They have done this time and time again. However, they have never had to put down an insurrection. We have not had to do that since the civil ware of the war between the states which was a war fought over state’s rights.

We supposedly won that war which gives the federal government rights over the state’s laws. With thousands of lives lost in that war, I hope that is settled law.

The question is when did the demonstration become an insurrection? Was it when the demonstrators turned over the first barricade’ or was it when t he President said we have to take our government back; or when the President told the security forces to take down the metal detectors: or was he when the planners planned the demonstration to turn into an insurrection.

I don’t want to see a former President go to jail. I don’t think it would be good for other countries to see that. However, I want the country to formerly recognize that the president broke the law and caused an insurrection to occur on Jan 6, 2021 and safeguards are put into place to so that it is clear that the President is never above the law. Our country cannot heal until that happens.

What is important is the healing of our country. Nothing else is as important. Most of the electorate understand what happened and are ashamed that January 6th became a loosely organized mob assaulting our precious capitol. Pride is the only thing holding the balance of the Trump electorate together.

The liberal Democrats and the Tea Party Republicans are miles apart and will never get together. If you are concerned in getting governing the nation back on track you should vote for representatives closer to the middle of both parties or even Independences. People that just think in the extremes will never pass any meaningful legislation.
