I eat sausage

15 Apr

I have seen Chinese and Mexican food prepared, and I have seen laws passed by the US Congress.  I love Chinese and Mexican food, but I can’t stand laws passed by the US Congress.  Those Chinese and Mexican chefs have to consider everything they do because the taste of their creation is immediately tested by the consumer.

The US Congress should be more like those chefs.  Each side or even those in the middle of any issue only look at their side of the situation and ignore the other side of the issue.  Every issue has one or more sides.  The problem is that we have to take the ill designed often bitter pill and eat it whether it has considered the public’s best interest or not.

When I listen to politicians being interviewed on TV, they simply do not answer the question put to them by the questioner because they don’t want to expose the problem to the public.  The questioner cannot make them answer the question and mostly just goes to the next question or issue.

I remember reading a Michener novel; I believe the name of the book was “The Tell”.  In that novel which was explaining the information taken from a “dig” in Israel that one of the characters in the novel was Jewish and was on a counsel which met every year in Jerusalem to discuss the Jewish laws.  An example of such laws was given which reminds me of our Congress.  The subject was it right to throw the dishwater out on the Jewish sabot.  Evidently they had concluded that it was okay to wash the utensils but had to decide just on that point.

There are things that just should not be in national law.  Some things must be decided by the inhabitants of the area affected by the local jurisdiction or maybe not at all.  If it is not okay to rob someone, but it is okay to take advantage of someone, what is the difference other than the micromanagement of the governing laws?

In the Christian society we believe it is not okay to kill.  However, in the case of the unborn fetus the US Supreme Court, the court decided when life begins.  Now in this Christian society we have bowed to the Supreme Court as God instead of saying, “You don’t have that authority.”

In a free society you have to have the right to succeed or to fail.  You have to have the right to make mistakes that does not affect anyone but you.  You do not have the right to think for me.  God knows everything.  If you do not believe that, then you are not a Christian.  With all He knows he gave us Ten Commandments to live by.  The founders of our country knew that.  They knew they could not control every aspect of our lives nor did they want to do so.

Yes I have seen sausage made.  I eat it because it tastes good to me.

I don’t want to live like that

9 Apr

I see people from other countries celebrating by firing weapons in the air like we see in the old cowboy movies.  I don’t want to live like that.

I see county and states making laws that arm people that normally aren’t armed.  Teachers in school in one state, head of households in Georgia.  The people are necessarily trained to handle a gun, and more importantly they are not trained to aim a gun at another person and pull the trigger.  This is a whole different mindset.  I don’t want to live like that.

We are going backwards and not forward in God’s plan for the human race.  If we are not going to believe in peace on earth, then let us say so and get rid of all the laws.  In other words anyone can have a gun any time or do anything to anyone else just because we want to.  I don’t want to live like that.

If we want to have peace on earth, then we have to realize that the bad people and people who do not possess a good mind will find a way to do whatever they want.  The legal ramifications of a psychiatrist reporting someone because they think someone might do something unlawful and then convicting the target person by restricting their rights is nuts.  It just cannot happen in this free society.  The congresspersons know this, but will not say so because they think that we are not intelligent enough to understand it.

There has never been a public debate along those lines that I have ever heard.  The congress just wants us to hear what they believe we can comprehend. We give people the opportunity to carry hand guns.  We cannot take that right away from the public.  However, we cannot allow people to have just anything that will fire.  A surface to air shoulder weapon just cannot be something we can tolerate.

We need a general law that makes people and corporations responsible for what they do.  A person should not be able to do anything they want on a whim.  A corporation should not be able to do anything they want on a whim or even because it will make their stockholders more money.  Rather than regulating the size of gun or allowing a corporation to take our money or do harm to the public or put the public in harm’s way, we should be able to charge a person for putting someone in harm’s way by the way. They should be charged or maybe arrested like a person that yells fire in a crowded theater.  If a corporation does it, there should be a hearing and if charged immediately, their business halted until the harming situation is resolved with the court.

We cannot micromanage everything because there is no one in the United States smart enough to do it.  If an individual is arrested or put in jail as a result of his or her actions, at least they have to deal with the consequences.  A corporation should have similar consequences.  If a medical company does harm to the public, the president and the board of directors of the company should have to personally face the same consequences since the Supreme Court has indicated that a corporation is a person.

We simply cannot micromanage our society.  We can’t make decisions in general for all crimes against society.  Legislators like the Georgia legislators that pass a law that every household must have gun in the house must be declared unconstitutional because I have a right to go unarmed because the constitution says I have a right to the pursuit of happiness.  How can I be happy if everyone has a gun ready to use against me.

We are a free society, but have to maintain a responsible attitude to each other.  I want to live like that.

Gun and other such Laws

29 Mar

What happened with all the gun violence has never and will never be addressed by congress or the courts.  The problem with the violence is it is spurned on by the absence of God in our society.  There were machine guns operated by crazy people in the twenties.  People have been killing people indiscriminately for decades since pray was taken out of school when the church let that happen.

When you really think about it the general public wants congress to pass legislation that will micromanage morality.  In actuality congress can pass this legislation, but with the freedom we have it can never be enforced.

The public cannot put the responsibility for morality off on the congress and courts.  They have no conscious.  They only know rules and negotiations.  The public must give an outcry to congress and the courts to re-establish God in our society, not by rules but by actions.  If we Christians (?) will begin to act like Christians, the people elected and appointed to positions of high office will be Christians.  If they are Christian, the laws and the rule of law will navigate back to a Christian nation being tolerant of other religions that worship God, instead of a nation that doesn’t care what anyone worships.

I support President Obama as president.  He is doing a good job, but I get cold chills every time I think about him saying, “We are no longer a Christian nation.”  This cannot be.

The leaders of our churches, as a rule, do not take sides against both sides of the political spectrum.  Many say they are Christians and therefore Republicans.  That is nuts.  Christianity is not political, but the church is obligated to help protect its members, feed the poor, and come to the aid of those in need in whatever way they can while bringing them into the folds of Christianity.  This is the charge given the disciples before his crucifixion.

If we could take a minute to take stock of our own lives, we could see where we can improve.  I have done that, and discovered that I am a mess.  God loves me anyway, but he wants me to improve.  I’m trying.  I challenge you to also take stock and try.

Gay Marriage

27 Mar

The media continues to report that the majority of the public supports same sex marriage.  The Supreme Court of the United States, I am afraid, believes this judging from the questions and answers so far.  If this assumption is true another misguided decision could be forthcoming.

I present another scenario I believe to be true.  The majority of the public, I don’t believe has ever been poled properly. I don’t believe a majority of the public supports same sex marriages. I believe a majority of the public support same sex unions to allow the legal position of the same sex unions to have equal rights in law. There is no way that a Christian majority agrees with same sex marriages.

I believe if the question was put to them that would separate the difference between same sex marriage and same sex legal union, the result would come much closer to the real opinion of the public.

What is truth and how should it be reported?

23 Mar

There is equal blame between Congress and the media for confusing the public to the point we don’t have a clue as to the real truth.

It is true that a statistician can take a set of numbers and without using all of them every time come to a different conclusion with each study they perform.  However, by ignoring one or more of the factors necessary to reach a conclusion, the outcome can never be reliable and true.  Unless we know what the politicians know we can never discover the real truth.

Reported: There is no way to reduce the gas consumption of automobiles more than is being produced in the USA.

Fact:  There are existing modifications that can be made to existing engine that could as much as triple the gas mileage presently available in our US automobiles.

Reported:  The car and truck exhaust pollution cannot be reduced in the near future.

Fact:  The same technology that produces the better gas mileage can also produce very small amount of pollution which would not show up on most automobile testing units.

Note:  A group of congress members have views this technology.

This is just one example of misinformation delivered to us by our representatives in congress and confirmed many times over by the media.

Get involved.  Get the facts.

Thomas Jefferson ?

This is amazing. There are two parts. Be sure to read the 2nd part (in

At 83, died on the 50th anniversary of the Signing of the Declaration of Independence along with John Adams.

Thomas Jefferson knew because he himself studied the previous failed attempts at government. He understood actual history, the nature of God, his laws and the nature of man. That happens to be way more than what most understand today. Jefferson really knew his stuff. A voice from the past to lead us in the future:

John F. Kennedy held a dinner in the white House for a group of the brightest minds in the nation at that time. He made this statement: “This is perhaps the assembly of the most intelligence ever to gather at one time in the White House with the exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone.”

“When we get piled upon one another in large cities, as in Europe, we shall become as corrupt as Europe .”
— Thomas Jefferson

“The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.”
— Thomas Jefferson

“It is incumbent on every generation to pay its own debts as it goes. A principle which if acted on would save one-half the wars of the world.”
— Thomas Jefferson

“I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.”
— Thomas Jefferson

“My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.”
— Thomas Jefferson

“No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms.”
— Thomas Jefferson

“The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.”
— Thomas Jefferson

“The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”
— Thomas Jefferson

“To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.”
— Thomas Jefferson

Thomas Jefferson said in 1802:

“I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies.

If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property – until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.”

Because after all, Republicans have controlled Chicago for years, right?

You really have to marvel at the stupidity…

President Barack Obama’s adopted hometown of Chicago hasn’t elected a Republican mayor since 1927, but in the eyes of CNN regular and Democratic strategist Robert Zimmerman, the rampant violence currently plaguing the city is the fault of the Republican Party.

On Friday’s broadcast of “CNN Newsroom,” Zimmerman, Politics 365 contributor Jason Johnson and CNN contributor Ana Navarro were discussing a joint effort by former NBA star Isiah Thomas and Democratic Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel to curb the city’s gang violence, when Zimmerman shifted the focus to congressional Republicans.

“[L]et’s be very clear about what’s happening in Washington today, and why it’s undermining the city of Chicago — because there’s a mindset now in our government, in Washington, from the Republican members of Congress, that sequestration is an acceptable way of doing business…

Are we learning what God is teaching

23 Feb

I’m really not an Old Testament buff.  To me the Old Testament is there to validate the New Testament for the ‘born again’ Christian.  However, I have been reading the prophets again.  I wanted to see why this loving God we serve go so upset with His chosen people.  Of course the first thing was Idolatry.  After that it seems it is just the way they lived.  They lived for me and my pleasures.  Other people were suffering, but that was just the way it is.  If I can win I will even if it is to the distress of the poor.  Justice is whatever works out to get others out of my mind or at least out of my site.

Sound familiar; well it should.  IT IS US.

We Christians complain about the criminals and the working and non-working poor, and say, “These people are trying to take advantage of us, so let us not worry about their wellbeing.”  Let us examine why they might be the way they are.

What do they think about every day?  They think about survival, and the ones that are Christians wonder why they are having such a hard time in this free land the Lord gave us.  Most think they should follow the thinking of the church and the government.

First let us examine the Christian church.  Most of the churches in these United States have given the responsibility of seeing to the needs of the poor to the government.  The government accepted the responsibility.  Our government hasn’t protected the poor for a long time.  For instance as I point out in my book “God’s Agenda vs Man’s Agenda” “In 1909 the arrested workers of the New York Shirtwaist Strike of 1909 were told by a judge that they were on a strike against God.”  In this section of the book I point out several instances that shows they supposed leaders of the country didn’t care at all about the poor or oppressed.

The prophets talked about the fact that people were not paid a fair wage.  I would assume that means a wage they could at least survive economically.  I dare anyone that has lived on a wage of $15 an hour or less to attempt to try it on $7.25 an hour.  That is about $14,500 dollars per year.  If you look on this web site http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0774473.html you will notice that this amount has never been a fair amount.  In 1955 the amount was $.75 per hour.  That would have been about $1,500 per year.  This is $30 a week or about $129.00 a month.  At that same time I earned more than that with part time work and was only a junior in high school.  At that same time men were earning $30 per week building homes outside the union.  At that same time workers in the unions and government employees were earning $80 per week. That ratio continues today.

Our all knowing government that represents all the people passes laws that allow those who have to exploit the have-nots.  They pass laws that oppress those that have resorted to criminal activity which further teaches them to survive no matter what happens to others.  At all points in our justice system, especially the Federal government, are always out to win regardless of the facts of the circumstances.  Judges mostly do what the District Attorneys request, and the accursed, in most cases, has to take pleas due to the cost of litigation.

According to the history of the relationship of God and man, we must take the responsibility of begin called Christian seriously and have the church take back the responsibility of distributing the gives to the common storehouse to the ones that need it.  Individually take back the responsibility of being children of God.

The Devil believes in God

22 Feb

Did you know that the Devil believes in God?  That is an interesting thought isn’t it? Believing in God is not the same as Worshiping and Trusting in God.  The Devil as near as I can tell, was there when the universe was created.  Yet he wants us to believe that he, the devil, is all powerful.  He probably is more powerful than man, but he is not more powerful than man with God.  The Devil certainly gets man’s attention, but he is not more powerful than our Sovereign Lord.

The Devil with his use of money and power here on earth entices us to follow the idles he places in front of us like money, power, prestige, and worldly pleasures to get us to follow him which is a way of forcing us to follow him.

The Lord God on the other hand simply says to us that He is God the Creator of heaven and earth, and asks us to accept Him at His word, live a productive life here on earth as he directs and live eternity with him.

If it be His will, I pray today that our nation accept Him, His teachings, and His grace which will lead us back to a relationship with Him that will allow Him to let us continue living free in this country.  Then we can spend eternity in heaven with Him. Amen

Are we following the prayer of Jerimiah

17 Feb

In the 10th Chapter of Jeremiah, Jeremiah offers this prayer after God had told him that the people of Israel were not living their lives as he had instructed before they entered the promise land

Jeremiah’s Prayer

Lord, I know that people’s lives are not their own; it is not for them to direct their steps. Discipline me, Lord, but only in due measure not in your anger, or you will reduce me to nothing.
25 Pour out your wrath on the nations
that do not acknowledge you,
on the peoples who do not call on your name, For they have devoured Jacob; they have devoured him completely and destroyed his homeland

At some point we must consider that we have been given a chance for a wholesome life with riches enough to have time to consider what God has given us to work with in order to bring the world to the Lord as he commanded.  We can start by considering what our God given talents are and how we might use for the good of mankind.  Then we could ask God how he wants us to use those talents for his glory

In order to grow this country’s respect and influence throughout the world we should begin to first move our own lives closer to what God intended us to do.  A big step would be to go back to the six days of labor and one or rest.  Our government supported this even in the Constitution.  We had the “blue law”.  Government business and commercial business was shut down except of necessary things like hospitals, emergency service, police, and emergency repair entities.   I remember in my lifetime that we couldn’t sign a contract on Sunday.  It just would not hold up in a court of law

Today in the United States we have companies working that never shut down.  We do have the hospitals and other institutions that have to work for the safety of others.  We have our military, police and fire fighters, and many other situations where we would at least have to be virulent.  We have some that worship on Sunday and some that worship on Saturday and some that worship on Friday. Can we pick a day of rest and get back to our original beliefs

The Lord God said to the prophets that we do not consider the poor or anyone that assistance from the wealthy.  In those times the religious community which would have been the Israelites or Jewish church that took that responsibility.  In the beginning they did that service for the Lord, but had let that responsibility fall away from their practices.  In the United States it was the Christian Church’s responsibility or the community that should be doing this, but the communities gave that responsibility to the State and Federal Government.  Now the State and Federal Government doesn’t want it any more,

Can the tithes and offerings be better distributed from the State and Local Government and should it be.  Holding a coin in his hand, Jesus said give unto Cesar what belongs to Cesar and give to God what is God’s.  I don’t believe he was talking only about Money, but I could be wrong.

Is there a way to fix this?
